Alan Tobey

Alan Tobey is a photographer and smart growth advocate. He recently retired from a career in technology where he acted as a liaison between programmers/engineers and management.

Alexander Quinn

Alexander Quinn is an urban economist and a long-time resident of Berkeley and Oakland. He grew up in the East Bay and went to graduate school at UC Berkeley. He has over ten years of planning and economic analysis experience and specializes in sustainable development, socio-economics and urban regeneration.

Dorothy Walker

Dorothy Walker is a 55-year Berkeley resident and a founding board member of Livable Berkeley.

She is the retired Assistant Vice Chancellor - Property Development for the University of California, Berkeley, past President of the Berkeley Planning Commission and former member of the Berkeley Zoning Appeals Board.

Nationally, she served as President of the American Planning Association and President of the American Society of Planning Officials.

Emunah Hauser

Emunah Hauser grew up flinging kitchen waste into the compost pit behind her family's earth coupled, energy efficient green home in Redding, California.

As a marketing advisor for Berkeley’s Saul's Restaurant and Delicatessen, she became passionate about promoting the significance of the restaurant’s socially and environmentally responsible food suppliers.

She is excited about ever-evolving definitions of sustainability and the challenges of green PR. Her professional background includes media monitoring, debate instruction, policy research, marketing – and vaudeville, western swing and old-time fiddle/vocal performance and instruction.

Eric Panzer

 

Eric Panzer is a Planner for The Planning Center | Design, Community & Environment, and previously worked as a GIS analyst for a Berkeley-based environmental firm. Originally from Austin, Texas, Eric came to California to study Environmental Science as well as City Planning at UC Berkeley.
Eric has a strong interest in improving transit and walkability to create more sustainable communities. He has previously served as a member of the Berkeley Housing Advisory Commission, as secretary for the Northern Alameda County Group of the Sierra Club, and as a temporary member of the Zoning Adjustments Board and the Planning Commission.
Eric has lived in the Downtown Berkeley area for over six years, and can often be spotted hoofing it across the city.

Erin Rhoades

Erin Rhoades is a professional city planner, lifelong Berkeley resident and mother of two. Ms. Rhoades' planning interests are focused on making Berkeley a more sustainable city.

Erin is the Executive Director of Livable Berkeley.

Jennifer Phelps-Quinn

Jennifer Phelps-Quinn is an MCP candidate in City and Regional Planning at UC Berkeley. A long-time resident of Berkeley, she has appreciated the progress Downtown Berkeley has achieved and hopes that good planning can continue to make the area a vital attraction for residents and visitors.

Having come to planning after several years in the adventure travel industry, Jennifer is currently studying how to apply urban planning and design concepts to promote sustainable tourism.

Joe DiStefano

Joe DiStefano has been a Berkeley resident for more than 15 years. His professional expertise is in the coordination of land use with transportation systems, with a focus on transit and pedestrian-oriented development that promotes automobile alternatives, housing choice, and community diversity. 

He is leading Vision California, an effort to explore the critical role of land use and transportation investments in meeting the environmental and fiscal challenges facing California over the coming decades. 

Joe is also an avid cyclist and grows much of his family's food in his small backyard.

John Dalrymple

John Dalrymple is the Political Director for the Sheet Metal Workers (SMW) Union Local 104 with a jurisdiction covering 17 Northern California counties.

SMW Local 104 was an early leader in building collaborations between Labor and the Environmental movement to promote more sustainable development and eco-friendly land use policies.

John is a 35 year resident of Berkeley along with his three daughters.

Kim Marienthal

Kim Marienthal is a realtor who has served on the board of the Berkeley Public Library Foundation and on the Local Government Relations Committee of the Berkeley Association of Realtors. He has an environmental planning degree from UC Berkeley and is a long-time Berkeley resident.

Lars Skjerping

Lars Skjerping is a political affairs and web strategy consultant. Involved in campaigns and community initiatives in Berkeley since 2004, he recently managed the successful effort to secure over $200 million for the Berkeley Unified School District.

He co-hosts Soapbox Derby on KALX-FM - a weekly half-hour radio program featuring in-depth discussions with local business leaders, political and cultural experts on topics ranging from city and state government to international news.

Lars is actively involved with Berkeley transportation and housing issues, as well as providing web technology and innovative marketing solutions to independent, locally owned business.

Mike Friedrich

Mike Friedrich is a third-generation Berkleyan and a Berkeley resident himself for 23 years. He enjoys owning a home from where he can bicycle to work and walk to two dozen movies, while belonging to an active neighborhood association that's looking out for each other and preparing for our next big Quake.

He has been active in union political efforts at the state and federal level. Through his work on the "No on P" campaign in 2002, Mike became involved in "smart growth" issues.

Sachu Constantine

Sachu “Sach” Constantine is a policy analyst for SunPower, a manufacturer and developer of solar PV systems.

He has been working on energy and environment issues, mainly in Africa, Asia and Latin America, since 1992 when he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ghana. After completing his Master of Public Policy Degree at UC-Berkeley, Sach worked for the Energy Analysis Program at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab where he coordinated technical assistance for projects in Ghana as well as domestic energy efficiency programs.

Sach lives in North Berkeley with his wife and two young children.
